Metsovaara logo

Hark back to an era when ‘groovy’ music filled the airways and the Scandinavians were filling the homes of the world with their courageous use of design and colour. The 50’s and 60’s were a time of unmistakable simplicity in design, which took the world by storm as studios like Marimekko, designers like Metsovaara and textile printers like Finlayson were extremely ‘hot property’.

Inspired by the bold patterns and prints, Materialised has tracked down an incredible library of designs by Marjatta Metsovaara, a famous Finnish textile designer.

Inspired by bold patterns and prints, she was renowned for using vibrant colours and creating innovative prints. Ahead of the times in the 1950’s and 1960’s, Metsovaara was known for her high quality textiles and the work she did designing for private homes, hotels and other public buildings. These prints are still very relevant today.
