Our first in a new monthly WeaveUp design showcase series, we bring you an Inspired By Nature theme. With organic and natural elements this brief is perfect for bringing the outside in and embracing the design buzzword ‘biophilia.’ It draws on the Dulux 2020 Colour Of The Year, Tranquil Dawn.

Brigitte Marlot and Barbara Brayovic from our Design Team have shared their process of uploading and adapting designs using our phenomenal digital design tool. You’ll find some great WeaveUp tips along the way!

You’ll see how easy it is to create your own designs, adapt existing ones and show samples to your clients.

We often start with Pinterest or actual mood boards for design inspiration and here you’ll see a snapshot of the design thinking for this brief…

WeaveUp Design Showcase ‘Inspired By Nature’

Brigitte chose to showcase the design Linville Cre8 as bamboo plants are often associated with feelings of peace and serenity. This was combined with the textured Bouquet Stripe Cre8 and the all-over leaf print Bamboo Cre8. The textured Basketweave Cre8 brings a touch of natural, raw fibre.

Barbara was inspired by coastline greenery and the contrast of the dense Australian bush when it meets the coast.

She decided to showcase Acacia Cre8 and changed the colours to reflect eucalyptus trees.  The design Aureum Cre8 was coloured to depict the dense bush and the variety of native trees. Edo Cre8 and Homespun Cre8 were also showcased with colours inspired by coastal sandstones and beach grass.

How To Upload A New Design To WeaveUp

The design has to be prepared in PhotoShop to ensure it’s the right size and format for the website, and that the colours can be customisable.

The upload is a step by step, easy to follow process.

TOP TIP: It’s important to add keywords, so your design is easily found.

Remember to pay close attention to the scale.

How To Customise Designs Already In WeaveUp

Firstly, use the ‘customise design’ function.

Then select colours from the Huesteria palette, dropping the Lab value in the design.

TOP TIP: You can save colours as a palette so that it is easy to use the same colours in the other designs.

Another neat thing you can do to simplify the number of colours in a design is to replace superfluous colours with the same one.

The repeat feature is straightforward, most designs only work with the basic repeat, but you can have a lot of fun with the mirrored function!
