Commercial wall murals, wall vinyl and wallpaper are very prominent in the design industry and are used to add style along with practicality and durability.

But what exactly is the difference?

Scale & Size

One of the biggest differences is the scale of the design or artwork. Wall vinyl and wallpaper tend to work as a repeated design both vertically and horizontally on a roll. This means that the repeat has to work within the roll’s width which can cause limitations on how big the scale of the design can go.

Wall murals, on the other hand, can be much larger and do not have to repeat. They are printed as panels and customised for each wall. At Materialised, our commercial wall murals are designed to our client’s exact specifications. There is also more room to play with the customisation of colour, scale, design and personalisation.

In our collection, you will find a few murals that repeat vertically & horizontally like above; murals that repeat only horizontally and the most common, placement murals.

Design Style

Think of wall murals as pieces of art as they are used to create a statement in a space. Whether it’s a dramatic floral, painterly landscape or bold geometric the type of design can really dictate the room’s atmosphere. Murals can be a placement print or have an all-over ceiling to floor coverage.

Wall vinyl and wallpapers are great for use on all walls as well as a feature. They can be used to bring in texture, colour and pattern. They are less about being the focal statement and more about adding another element to the room.

With our library of prints and textures, clients have an abundance of options when it comes to styles and trends for wall vinyl and wallpaper.

      Hi Cydne,

A foil is a metallic affect. A non woven is a material that is akin to a paper. A mural is simply a description of the pattern type.

      Trust this helps.
