Acoustic Curtain Fabric
These acoustic curtain fabrics give the look and feel of a soft drape, whilst their technology offers acoustic control. With the fabric positioned approximately 15 to 20 cm from the window or wall, researchers have found it can absorb up to five times as much sound as a typical, lightweight, non-acoustic fabric. They deliver an outstanding NRC rating of between 0.55 and 0.71.
To quantify our product as commercial acoustic solutions, each is tested and awarded an NRC (Noise Reduction Coefficient) rating. The NRC relates to the absorption effectiveness of the material, and is calculated by averaging how absorptive a material is at four different frequencies.
Our Hush acoustic sheer curtain fabric is tested at 250hz, 500hz, 1000hz and 2000hz. Taking the average number, it is then applied to the NRC scale of 0 to 1. A perfectly sound absorptive material achieves a 1, whereas a 0 indicates no absorption.
Please note that these tests are conducted 15-20cm away from a window. If the same fabric is used in a different application, for example as a room divider or privacy curtain not near a window or wall, the NRC result will be lower.

Material selections are pared back and often reduced to raw industrial finishes and surfaces to rationalise the volume of materials required in the project. EJE Architecture and EJE Interiors used five custom and semi-custom Materialised fabrics.
