Ngapa Jukurrpa II – Water Dreaming – Puyurru

The site depicted in this painting is Puyurru, west of Yuendumu. In the usually dry creek beds are ‘mulju’ (soakages), or naturally occurring wells. The ‘kirda’ (owners) for this site are Nangala/Nampijinpa women and Jangala/Jampijinpa men.

A colourful and visually striking Aboriginal artwork piece that sees songlines of meticulously placed dots and lines radiating from central circles, representing soakages. The colour palette is a kaleidoscope of purples, blues, reds and oranges. The site depicted in this painting is Puyurru, west of Yuendumu.
