Take-back Programs

As well as a commitment to providing fit-for-purpose products to the contract interior design industry and creating an in-house task team called The Waste Warriors, we have taken a proactive step in addressing waste through take-back programs for BLOX™, AcoustiCalm and cardboard cores.

BLOX take-back program

BLOX™

Our BLOX™ modular cubicle screens, which are designed to replace the disposable model and have a 10-year warranty, can be traded in at end of life.

Guidelines for recycling

  • When ordering new BLOX™ at end-of-life, you get a discount on the replacement and we upcycle the old ones.
  • They must be laundered before being sent to Materialised in Sydney.

How are the cubicle screens recycled?

We have partnered with a mission in Sri Lanka where BLOX™ screens are re-used as flooring, bed throws and curtains or screens in homes. Alternatively, we recycle through our partnership with Textile Recyclers Group (TRG).

Acoustic Panels

For our AcoustiCalm panels we have partnered with Textile Recyclers Group (TRG), a company dedicated to recycling fabric, panels and rugs.

Through this collaboration, we ensure that acoustic panel materials that would typically be discarded are instead given a second life, through a responsible recycling stream.

Guidelines for recycling

  • Clients can send uncontaminated panels back to Materialised in Sydney.
  • Uncontaminated means they can not have glue or plasterboard attached to the panels.
  • We then cut into smaller pieces and send to TRG for recycling.

How are the acoustic panels recycled?

The panel pieces are shredded, and the fibre is spun back into a useable felt material.

Cardboard core take-back program

Cardboard Cores

If you would like to send used cardboard cores back to us, we will repurpose them, and any damaged ones are always recycled in our weekly recycling pick-up.
