Yinaagang – Girl

ARTIST: Amanda Hinkelmann.
Born on Wiradjuri Land in Wagga Wagga, Amanda is an exceptionally passionate and talented Aboriginal artist who has been creating breathtaking original artworks from her studio under the moniker ‘Because of my Four’ for many years now. Amanda’s artworks share stories of resilience, strength, and the power of women. She draws inspiration from her hometown of Wagga Wagga, her family, and the Dreamtime.

This playful and uplifting contemporary Aboriginal artwork that features circles, loops and flower-like shapes in a chaotic composition. The jewel-toned colour palette consists of deep blue, jade green and magenta pink. This artwork represents the journey from being a child to becoming a woman – learning throughout one’s teenage years and growing through change and error, all with an optimistic outlook on what life may bring. It portrays the groups of people that you will meet as you move through life and the many crossroads you will come to that will help steer your destiny.

Warlukurlangu Jukurrpa – Fire Country Dreaming

ARTIST: Theo (Faye) Nangala Hudson.

This Dreaming belongs to Warlukurlangu country to the south-west of Yuendumu, for which Jampijinpa/Jangala men and Nampijinpa/Nangala women have custodial responsibility.

Bold, concentric circles make up the focal point of this clean and contemporary Aboriginal artwork piece, and are surrounded by thick, branching songlines. By contrasting vivid blue tones with warm mustard and ochre elements, the artist has created a piece that is both considered, yet mesmerising.
