The Brief.
Gathered curtains with a large-scale pattern were required for the ANZ lobby in Sylvia Park, Auckland. The client was open to artist involvement. Later it was decided to use a custom design by Lucy G using birds and planting native to New Zealand, with colour as long as it is authentic to the country.
The Lucy G design was printed onto a velvet base cloth 137m wide (Ritz White Lace). The wall was 20m long and 4.3m high so our design team prepared the design in panels (all pattern-matched with enough bleed for seams) so that the manufacturers could sew and hang the overall graphic perfectly in 15 panels.
