Palm wall vinyl delivers a luxury feel to this beautiful blow out bar.
Franziska Huber of Designful Spaces shares her stylish Blow Out Style & Bar project with us and explains why wall vinyl was a win over wallpaper.
Designful Spaces is an interior design and lifestyle studio started by Franziska to fulfil her dream of owning a business, but most importantly to help people to bring their dream spaces to life.
“A space needs to be functional and designful,” explains Fran. “I guide my clients through a structured design process which helps us to achieve consistent quality results and makes a renovation process so much easier for them. I listen to my clients and take on their ideas to find a way to implement those. If I notice something won’t work well I openly tell my clients and we will work towards an alternative solution.”
The Brief
“The owner of Blow Out Style and Bar approached us to help with the layout design and functionality of this space as well as with the design of cabinetry, colour scheme and material selections,” says Fran. “We had the honour of providing a full design service for this project and worked closely with them through our signature step-by-step design process.”
“The hair stylists need to work comfortably side by side using their equipment and small trolleys; the wash area should be a space to relax, and the powder room should feel beautiful and luxurious. Overall, I needed to create a space that makes people feel welcome, comfortable, and happy!”
Wall Vinyl Colour Scheme & Materials
“In the first conversation with our client, we received the vibe that she liked greenery and palm trees. I immediately thought of a gorgeous design we could use to decorate the large empty walls. This wall covering has been the inspiration to develop the colour scheme.”
“The powder room is a generous space where people can get changed before heading to an event. It does not receive any natural light, so it was perfect for a darker and cosy space which feels more luxurious.”
““I selected wall vinyl over wallpaper for quality and long-lasting design purposes. It is more appropriate to use wall vinyl in a high traffic area, as in this commercial setting. I also find the texture is more beautiful than normal wallpaper.” – Franziska Huber, Designful Spaces

Sampling With Materialised
“I was introduced to Materialised by TAFE SA while studying the Diploma of Interior Design and Decoration and fell in love with the products! I love the artists designs, colourways and the versatility of the product… That you can choose different textures, base cloths etc. to suit the needs of a project. Working with Materialised products gives me piece of mind because I know I used a quality product.”
“Working with Bronwyn and the girls from the Materialised design office in Sydney has been fantastic. The samples always arrive very fast, and the design office worked out a layout for the wall vinyl using the elevations I provided which helped us to get an accurate quantity of the wall vinyl.”
“Bronwyn also recommended an installer for the wall vinyl. The results of the installation are immaculate. I was a little nervous as it was the first time I’ve been in charge of ordering wall covering but everything went really well!”
The Result
“Together the space we have built is aesthetically gorgeous, the layout is thoughtful and practical, everything is in its place. I could not be happier with the result I have had from Designful Spaces, and I can’t wait to use Fran again for my next project.” – Michelle Fahey, owner of Blow Out Style and Bar.
