The Brief.

“We loved the idea of embracing the old Floridian tennis clubs of the 70’s,” says Ghislaine of Ghislaine Viñas, “so there is definitely a cheeky, kitsch vibe that is pulled from that era. We used strong simple architecture and well thought out proportions to divide up the spaces. The interiors are meticulously thought out.”

Custom Bamboo Lattice, by Florence Broadhurst.

The Design

“The Florence Broadhurst Bamboo Lattice wall covering for the kitchen came to mind right away because I associate this pattern with the 70’s. I love the vintage look but we wanted it to have a more modern feel. The custom black and white colouration we used gives it a fresh, updated look. I’ve always been a huge fan and admirer of Florence Broadhurst and was introduced to her work by an Australian client about 10 years ago – I was immediately smitten.”

“We did play around with a couple other classic patterns, but the Bamboo Lattice just seemed perfect: not too fussy and it gave us a nice bold graphic pattern.

The custom process was overall very smooth. It was easy to pick a custom colour because the sample came with a huge colour chart, allowing us to pick the right shade. Once we chose the colour and scale, there was a little back and forth to get the final perfect, but that was met with no difficulty and the samples came quickly.”
