Fit for purpose furniture is paramount in an educational facility as it plays a pivotal role in creating an environment conducive to effective learning. The design and functionality of furniture directly impact students’ comfort, engagement, and overall wellbeing.

Moreover, furniture that aligns with the specific needs of different educational spaces, such as classrooms, libraries, and common areas, enhances the overall functionality of the facility.

By investing in fit for purpose furniture, educational institutions prioritise the creation of an optimal learning environment that not only supports academic achievement but also nurtures the holistic development of students.

The Design Brief

Custom made, fit for purpose furniture was at the heart of the design of the Australian Christian College in Queensland. The Civic Australia team created pieces that support learning, encourage participation and collaboration, and create a warm and welcoming environment.

Ensuring the school prepares students for their future, it was crucial that the development aligns with this goal. Drawing inspiration from both universities and corporate environments, the aim was to cultivate a mature atmosphere, motivating secondary students to actively engage in their learning.

However, the focus extends beyond academics. With an emphasis on student wellbeing, the new development incorporates vibrant and inviting breakout spaces. These successfully provide students with opportunities to rest, unwind, and socialise between classes.
