Well-designed residential aged care facilities that evoke a sense of home are of utmost importance for several reasons.

Firstly, they provide a comfortable and familiar environment for elderly residents, promoting a sense of belonging and security. By incorporating elements like cosy living spaces, personalised decor, and communal areas reminiscent of a home, these facilities create a warm and welcoming atmosphere that can greatly enhance the wellbeing of the residents.

Secondly, such facilities contribute to the overall quality of life for older adults by facilitating social interactions and fostering a sense of community. When the environment feels like home, residents are more likely to engage in meaningful relationships with their peers, participate in various activities, and maintain a sense of independence.

Lastly, these well-designed spaces can positively impact the mental and emotional health of the elderly population. The ambiance of home-like surroundings can reduce feelings of loneliness, depression, and anxiety, ultimately leading to improved overall health outcomes.

Contemporary accommodation has been thoughtfully planned to include home comforts and all the bells and whistles you would expect from innovative, modern design.

Crown Furniture created the furniture for this project. The brief was for a tropical resort ambience in keeping with the coastal township of Port Macquarie. Julianne Brown, Interior Designer at Crown, was heavily involved from beginning to end.

Julianne investigated iconic features of the area and themed different floor levels to accentuate and co-ordinate via furniture styles and upholsteries. Emphasis was placed on Australian Made and an holistic understanding of the client’s vision for the whole project.

The Result

“A top-notch project that has already garnered a great reputation in the area. Residents are cared for as if they are at home in 5-star accommodation!” says Tony Martin, Crown Furniture.

Investing in well-designed aged care facilities that prioritise a homely atmosphere is certainly crucial for providing the elderly with the care, comfort, and dignity they deserve in their later years.
